Family Rettreat

This year’s 5^th annual, Winter Family Rettreat returns to the recently renovated Embassy Suites, 121 Centennial Avenue, Piscataway (Somerset), New Jersey 08854, just off of I‑287 exit 9 (River Road) Highland Park. We booked what is a quiet night with no large groups or other functions scheduled to be there, so the pool should be great & check-in quicker.

In the past families & extended families coming from across New Jersey and the surrounding regions have joined us. All Rett families & extended families that can join us are very welcome. This is not a formal conference but a regional Rett family friendly gathering & event.

This past year’s optional family buffet dinner was a tremendous success, avoiding wasting time traveling for dinner, dealing with the crowds and waiting to be served. This gave us more time together to relax and enjoy each other’s company & the facilities. So once again we have negotiated a very special reduced rate that for only $20 per person (including all gratuities & taxes) a buffet dinner which includes hot pasta with meat sauce, chicken fingers, pizza, fruit salad, drinks of soda & iced water (deserts will be provided compliments of an anonymous donor). Because we are having the buffet dinner we also have use of a 1400 sq. ft. conference room starting at 2:00 PM Saturday at no additional cost (this normally would be $800).

You need to register in advance but not with the hotel (see the registration form).

For the 2^nd year a special booklet with optional contact information for participants who wish to stay in touch will again be created & provided free to all families along with other items (provided by a donor).

A workshop on Saturday for the Parents of Children with Special Needs (of course our girls are welcome to be there) will be held along with simultaneous activities for the Siblings of Children with Special Needs. Workshops are free even for those who do not stay overnight but you must register.

We obtained a discount conference room rate for the Embassy Suites’ two room suite with two queen size beds of $129.00+plus tax (current ‘best rate’ is $179.99+tax) [you must use this link by March 8^th to book your room at a the special discount rate http://embassysuites.hilton.com/en/es/groups/personalized/PISNJES-RO3-20080329/index.jhtml]. Included with your room is a free cooked-to-order full breakfast including excellent made to your specifications omelets and much more for your family Sunday morning and the hotel manager’s reception on Saturday from 5:30 – 7:30 PM with a variety of complimentary cold beverages (a free mixed drink, wine or beer for adults & a soft drink for the kids).

The hotel is easy to reach. Coming north on I‑287 you made a left off of exit 9 (River Road) and proceed to jug handle turn on right hand side labeled Centennial Avenue, then stay on Centennial Avenue for about a quarter of a mile and turn left at the first traffic light into their parking lot.
